Le Touquet & Berck

The Opal Coast's long sandy beaches backed by dunes. In the Canche bay at the north end of Le Touquet there is excellent flat water behind the sand spit and waves in front of it, best in westerlies on an outgoing tide; at Berck-Plage further south flat water forms between sandbars. Westerly depressions bring the wind from autumn to spring; in summer surfing is banned in the swimming zones and the current can be strong.
