A soft-sand beach between two rock piers, and the first beach west of the Italian border wide enough to launch safely. In summer the afternoon thermal, locally called Ponant, blows side-onshore from the south at 10–20 knots from early afternoon to evening; easterlies bring swell, shorebreak and 25–40 knots for experts. Stay in the kite zone at the northern end.
