Normandy – Merville-Franceville

A big sandy beach at the mouth of the Orne near Caen, next to Ouistreham. The large tidal range creates shallow areas with perfectly flat to choppy water and a strong current; south-westerlies are slightly offshore but accelerated. A kite zone applies from mid-June to mid-September between the Orne and the town.
