Lac de Monteynard

A long, clear alpine reservoir south of Grenoble, famous for a summer thermal of around 18 knots that funnels through the valley in the afternoon. The wind can be very gusty and occasionally reaches 40 knots; avoid the southerly unless experienced. Kiting is only allowed in marked zones, a leash is compulsory and the tourist ferry has right of way.
